For the past few months we’ve been working with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council on new playing pitch and built sports facilities strategies. These are linked to TMBC’s emerging Local Plan and we are following Sport England guidance in their development.
Historically, the council has given great priority to investing in sports and leisure facilities including Larkfield Leisure Centre which was one of the first lelsure pools in the country and the very attractive Tonbridge Swimming Pool. Pleasingly, this has been matched by good standards of maintenance and refurbishment over the years.
Recent population growth has brought the development of the King’s Hill sports park and attracted private sector investment from David Lloyd and other operators.
Our role is to advise on the future provision of facilities in the light of projected population growth, other demographic changes and the redevelopment of Tonbridge Town Centre. Our reports our due in summer 2024.
