Tony’s been breaking new ground on a project with the Philharmonia Orchestra looking at the positive effects of music on people with Alzheimer’s disease.
This looked at the ‘Expression through Music’ programme. The project involved a series of weekly sessions for a period of eight weeks for the carers of people living with dementia, facilitated by a music therapist, providing a supportive environment where carers could freely discuss issues affecting their lives and at the same time find new ways of expressing feelings and emotions through the medium of music. Once again the project involved attending project sessions over an eight-week period, interviewing participants and reviewing outcomes.
Once again, the project was judged to be a great success.
