In recent years we’ve worked extensively in north Surrey on playing pitch and sports facilities strategies. Our clients have included Epsom & Ewell, Spelthorne, Runneymede and Elmbridge councils.
We are pleased to be able to add Mole Valley District Council to this list. The council area runs from Leatherhead in the north, down past Dorking in the south and features outstanding landscape areas such as Box Hill. Over 75% of the borough’s area lies within the Metropolitan Green Belt and large areas in the Surrey Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local sports clubs include Dorking Rugby Club and Leatherhead FC – “The Tanners.”
We were commissioned to produce two linked strategies namely a Playing Pitch Strategy and a Built Sports Facilities Strategy. This latter includes swimming pools, sports halls and fitness centres. Both are linked to the emerging Local Plan which isA key local issue is the feasibility of providing an athletics track in Dorking.
Our reports were submitted on time, accepted and adopted by the council, Sport England and the governing bodies of sport and are now being used as the basis for sports development in the area.
