The winning runs have been hit, the umpire has called “Time” and the two undefeated batsmen walk arm in arm to the pavilion.  Jim and Tony raise their bats to the four corners of the ground, acknowledge the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd and enter the dressing room for the last time.  After 25 years they are walking away from the wicket.

Since we formed PLC in 2001 we’ve worked for some 200 clients in the UK and north America including the Olympic 2012 bid, central and local government, millionaires, deprived communities and the countless clubs who are the backbone of sport in this country.  We’ve raised millions through successful funding bids, aided the development of dozens of new venues, improved the performance of facilities and organisations and helped improve diversity across the sector.   All this and many routine but important strategies, planning reports and feasibility studies.

We pioneered remote working which was invaluable during the pandemic, survived two financial crises, seen eight prime ministers come and go as well as any number of ministers for sport – most of whom we can’t name.  All this whilst not having a cross word between us in all these years.  We’ve also manged to find time to volunteer at the 2012 Olympics and with a cricket charity in Uganda.

It’s been a blast!

Our thanks go to our dozens of collaborators, associates, partner practices, friends at Sport England and the NGBs and, of course, our clients many of whom have become friends as well as employers.

In the immediate future Tony’s writing the definitive book of Bedfordshire birds and Jim’s looking to go back to Uganda with Cricket Without Boundaries in the new year.  After that, who knows?

Wishing you all well for the future, please keep in touch.
